BEBA celebrates its 25th Anniversary at Abdeen Palace

The Britis Egyptian Business Association (BEBA) celebrated its 25th anniversary by organizing a Charity Gala Dinner at the historic Abdeen Palace. The dinner was held in support of a charitable cause in cooperation with Ahl Masr Foundation for the treatment of burn survivors. This location was chosen as a way of highlighting a significant cultural site and to revive Egypt’s history. As the previous residence of the Royal Family of Egypt, the Palace is witness to various monumental events and marks the inception of modern-day Cairo. Since 1996, BEBA has worked to foster and promote an environment that stimulates trade and business links between Egypt and the UK. This year, BEBA celebrates its 25th anniversary.

The programme of the Gala Dinner involved a walk through the Palace, a ceremony recognising BEBA’s founding members and longstanding members of its executive team, concluding with dinner at the garden with a special live entertainment. BEBA focused on encouraging young artists by giving them a platform to showcase their work in a silent auction during the event. The profit raised went directly to Ahl Masr, the first and largest hospital and research center for the free treatment of trauma and burn victims in Egypt. Ahl Masr has adopted the treatment and recovery of burn survivors to save their lives for free via the therapeutic journey of surgeries and laser operations\sessions. It is currently extending its support to burn survivors through partnerships with more than 8 hospitals with burn center facilities until opening.

The event brought together government officials, ministers, and diplomats, as well as distinguished BEBA members for a memorable day at the palace. Attendees included H.E. Dr. Khaled El-Enany, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities; H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation; H.E. Eng. Yehia Zaki, Chairman of Suez Canal Economic Zone; Dr. Mohamed Farid, Chairman of Egyptian Exchange; and Amb. Gareth Bayley, Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt. The celebration was not complete without BEBA recognizing the role of its founding members and its executive team. Their efforts are the driving force behind accomplishing BEBA’s mission and have significantly enhanced Egypt/UK relations, placing BEBA where it stands today. The founding members recognized were Dr. Negad Shaarawi, Ms. Sara Hinton, Mr. Sami Saad, Mr. Hazem Hassan, Mr. Tarek Helmy, and Dr. Ibrahim Kamal. As for the executive team members, Ms. Nadia Lamloum, Ms. Hala El Halabi, Ms. Engi El Naggar, Ms. Ghada Mushiet, Mr. Ehab Gamal, and Ms. Mai Refaie have been recognized for their effort and hard work for years at BEBA.
